Long-Tail Keywords Explained
Many people think long-tail keywords are easier to rank for. Are they correct? The true answer is that it depends on your SEO strategy.
Longtail keywords are classified into two types. You will learn about two types of longtail keyword search methods in this article. However, we need to start by looking at some key points before we dive into each of them
What are Long-Tail Keywords?
Long tail keywords are very specific search queries that usually have relatively small search volumes. Even though most consumers do not search them frequently they do represent a high percentage of all search queries combined with short-tail keywords.
The word “long tail” originated to describe how niche product sales on websites such as Amazon and Google were able to gain more sales than the top-selling products on other platforms using longer search phrases.
How to use long-tail keywords?
Typically, long-tail keyword phrases are just a modification of a popular keyword. They are typically not the most popular versions of your keyword ideas. However, they are easier to find in your copy.
The most important thing is that optimizing a particular piece of information for thousands of variations is impossible. I prefer to optimize page content with phrases in the middle of their Keywords Diagram. Using longtail keywords you can target a more specific and less competitive set of keywords.
Understanding your main keyword hierarchy
The Google algorithm has been finding long-tail keywords and cataloging them for many years now. Topic groups consist of related keywords organized in the hierarchy of blogs, content clusters, or categories.
Clustering topics are crucial in digital marketing as they help you reach your intended customers at all stages of a funnel. They can help you increase website authority and boost your ranking.
How to find long-tail keywords?
Many blogs show you what it takes when you’re attempting to do short-tail keyword research. Certainly, they are not many blog posts on how to find long-tail keywords. So it’s not necessary for me to talk about ways to pull a keyword suggestion from the Google search engine, Keyword Planner. Typically, the PPC tool such as Google Ads will return the most common keywords.
Instead, I use more conventional SEO tools which include words that have lower search volumes. In fact, the term in that chunky middle is very important. To find long tail keywords I use a powerful keyword research tool called Mangools. Using keyword research tools like Mangools you will come up with so many keyword ideas with search volume. It is easy to find a long-tail keyword to write about when using Mangools.
Competitive analysis method
It can be helpful to your SEO strategy to learn keyword phrases in advance of writing any new content. Make sure every query you’re looking for is relevant, otherwise it will not be indexed. Only the most relevant terms should be selected so that your website can get a top position in Google’s search bar results.
Why Search Engines benefit from long-tail keywords
Although search engines rarely search for specific long-tail keywords, it is possible for these to play an important function in SEO strategies. Individually low-quality keywords do not generate much traffic and have relatively low search volume. Nevertheless, collectively, it makes an impact. Over time many long-tail queries and related searches will bring you a lot of new traffic.
They satisfy more diverse search queries
Using long-term keywords provides customers with similar results across other mediums. People usually search the Internet for answers. It’s very important that we find the search patterns of our audience when writing content. If the user is using voice searches a lot, they may be using a different seed keyword than its normal keyword with a high search volume.
Long-tail searches are less competitive
Keywords that have a high amount of search volume have very high ranking requirements. Marketers also tend to ignore low-quality keywords with low volumes. In this way, the rankings are usually more straightforward.
Using long-tail keywords on your site is a good way to get traffic even if your website doesn’t have any domain authority.
Targeting Long tail keywords can result in natural backlink boosting, and help increase search rankings for a given keyword.
They lead to more comprehensive content marketing
Using long-tail keywords in an article will determine whether the content is geared specifically for a certain audience.
However, you might discover some additional keyword ideas which initially appeared outside of scope but now form a larger area of research.
Or you could find some variations in the same group that have a larger collective size indicating greater importance to the group.
The types of long-tail keywords
There’s no single type of longtail keyword. Some long-tail phrases represent a specific search query and others simply represent less popular variations of the commonly searched query.
These keywords include long-term and support keywords. Google keyword planner is good at exposing this fact. Make sure to give it a try sometime!
Long tail keywords have high conversion rates
People search for long-tail terms because they are generally more advanced or at the stage of buying something related to those long-tail variations of the head term they are searching for.
However, people looking for shorter versions of the terms are looking for information on a product or topic.
Is there something to lose? Traffic generated through long-tail keywords usually convert very well. Give it a try sometime you will love it!
Google Search Console performance report
Some of the most important keywords are those that are found in Google keyword suggestions. Google search console is full of great long-tail search term information.
If you’ve been like everyone else, you’ve been on Google. Sometimes you will find that your keyword ranking hasn’t yet been optimized by Google. That is why you need to use the Google search console.
When your Google search console settings are given additional attention search engines typically start showing results within weeks to months of the initial launch of a new site.
Extra Tip Use Quora
It was the first online community to host questions for people who were not interested in the subject of the survey. Quora requires a free account. If your username isn’t listed, click the search box on the left of the page.
Quora will show you the most popular questions about any subject. Some questions have high volumes of keywords you can copy or paste into your website.
Forums and boards help with research
I have always liked forums for finding keywords. I have many forums that I check regularly. Any place where people are searching for information about a certain subject online I’m there.
Besides, if anyone asked a question on a site, they would know other users had asked the same question. Use a forum to search keywords and find people that you are looking to engage with. Many people know this. That is why you must start regularly checking forums and boards when doing your marketing research.
Try Google Trends
Google Trends is a key search engine tool I have always liked. Do you want to start SEO? It’s certainly worth examining whether you are new or old to the marketing game.
Using Google trends you can cherry-pick great long-tail keywords that regular marketers wouldn’t know about. Not many marketers actually use Google Trends in the way I do.
Examine autocomplete suggestions in Google directly
One way to get long-tail keywords is just by typing a broad keyword in Google and then checking autocompletes. If there are people asking other questions, then enter them into Google and see how it autocompletes. Look at the related search box below.
This method shows exactly the most popular search engines without any guesswork. This is not the most practical method to research long-tail variations. However, it can help you get unstuck if you have run into a wall in your research.
Research your top competitor
Google Search Engine Optimization tool allows you to see the specific keywords used in search engine ranking for specific queries. Find some common competitor names that appear often on the top page of Google.
Then, ensure that you are incorporating their keywords into your content for improved SEO. Plus you can learn more information about keywords and concepts you have never considered in the past.
Use question modifiers like “what” and “how”
Google is introducing a new feature in which users can add questions to a search engine feature page. Whenever brainstorming long-tail questions you want people to ask, be careful that the questions are generated by modifiers such as “what,” “how”, “where,” and more. This keyword identifies specific questions and may appear frequently when searching for your long-tail keyword in your SEO tool selection.
What makes longtail keywords so great?
There are many reasons why you should target long-tail keywords. That is why I have compiled a list of the three best reasons. Take a look below!
Reason 1. Long-tail keywords are (generally) a lot less competitive
Let’s imagine your blog has been started on cryptocurrency. There are many common keywords with large traffic volumes which can potentially drive LONG Term Traffic to your website. But we must have the truth.
Is it possible you’ll have a chance to rank for these? All these keywords have a good KD score. This makes it extremely difficult to rank for those search terms. Since the site is completely new it will simply fail. However, if we look at a few less popular searches about bitcoin. You will see their KD is low.
Reason 2. Long-tail keywords are (generally) easier to address
Let’s look back at these two keyword pairs. What can I do with bitcoin? However, when you examine the top-ranked search engine result page, it has 3,400 characters in total. The most popular page for cashing in bitcoins is only 1000 words long.
The problem is that the larger your queries are the more detailed the query is. Usually, when your search is purely specific, then you’ll be able to respond relatively briefly, but will satisfy the searcher more. The creation of content based on long-tail phrases generally requires less time.
Reason 3. There are LOTS of them
Yes, a specific keyword will not flood traffic to your website. Obviously, if we are to address all the other website topics then search traffic is going to increase.
It’s possible there will be a shortage of long-tail phrases in the future. So, get out there and start grabbing them now! While you still can!
Keyword Research Long Tail Summary
Targeting longer-term keywords is a different type of way most SEOs believe will greatly improve your website’s traffic. It’s difficult to create hundreds of blogs without harming your Organic Search Results. It can be helpful to use SEO tools to boost search engine rankings.
Long-tail keywords are a powerful tool for increasing traffic to a site using micro-optimization to improve its visibility. You must always prioritize users. Use more optimal keywords for your web pages to achieve better results. Make your keywords more relevant to your target audience.
If you do all of these things then you will go far. SEO is something that is not easy and takes a lot of research. You need to come to the table with an idea of what niche your business falls under to speed things up.
